Your Favorite TV Shows That Won’t Be Returning in 2023
Sometimes your favorite show is lucky to have multiple seasons, and sometimes they get canceled prematurely or come to a natural end. Shows canceled prematurely can cite network issues, poor ratings, or low viewership. Other times, show creators would rather end the story before it gets too dry, much to fans' disappointment.
Here is a list of shows that won't return for a new season in 2023.
Stranger Things
Fans of Stranger Things need to prepare to say goodbye to the Upside Down. Netflix announced that the fifth season, set to premiere in 2023, will be the last.
The science-fiction series follows the supernatural events that occur when one of the series' main characters goes missing and the government experiments related to his disappearance.
Star Trek: Picard
The Star Trek: The Next Generation spinoff series, Star Trek: Picard, is coming back for a third season, but the third season will also be the last.
The series is set 20 years after the events of the film Star Trek: Nemesis, with an older Picard who is retired from Starfleet. The third season will see Picard reunited with his former crew of the USS Enterprise.
Dead to Me
The dark comedy series Dead to Me concludes with a third and final season. Initially set to premiere in 2020, the last season premiered in 2022 after production delays.
Following a series of twists and turns between the friendship of main characters Jen and Judy, the show explores how a dark secret brings the two women together.
Umbrella Academy
The science fiction series, The Umbrella Academy, is set to have its fourth and final season in 2023 after the characters faced an uncertain future in the season three finale.
Based on a comic book series of the same name, the series will have a natural ending that leaves room for the story to continue in comic book form.
Atlanta
Donald Glover's Atlanta is ending, with the fourth season being the last. Glover, who created the show in 2013, felt that the show was naturally coming to an end, saying, "death is natural."
The show, which revolves around the lives of black Americans, was praised for having an all-black writing staff, something nearly unprecedented in American television.
DC's Stargirl
For Stargirl fans, the days of seeing Courtney Whitmore fight crime are ending. After announcing the third season, The CW announced after the season's premiere that it would also be the show's last.
With changes in the network, series creator Geoff Johns explains that his writing team penned the final season with the understanding that cancelation was possible, hoping to end the series on a high note that is sure to make fans happy.
Workin' Moms
After seven seasons, Workin' Moms will say goodbye to fans in 2023.

Degrassi
Fans of the Degrassi series may have heard about a planned new series from HBO Max, but they were left disappointed when the network scrapped it. The series would have premiered in 2023.
Production on the new series did begin in 2022, but following a merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc., several planned HBO Max shows were canceled, including Degrassi.
The Flash
The Flash TV series won't be returning for another race after the upcoming ninth season. The CW canceled the series, with a shorter season to conclude the series, with thirteen episodes.
The series is a reimagining of The Flash comic book series about Barry Allen, a crime scene investigator who gains superhuman speed after an accident.
Derry Girls
The comedy series Derry Girls, about a group of quirky but loveable teens in Northern Ireland, will share its last laugh with fans.

Hunters
Hunters will finally be able to conclude its story in season two, airing in 2023, after significant delays in production and filming.

Sci-fi series The Imperfects won't be returning for season two. Despite its initial success, the series received mixed reviews from critics.
Called a "coming of rage" story by the series creators, the show revolves around three young adults who are turned into monsters against their will by mad scientists. They plot to get their vengeance by hunting down those responsible.
Fate: The Winx Saga
Fate: The Winx Saga has ended after two seasons. Showrunner Brian Young shared the news with fans in an Instagram post in November.
Based on the popular animated Nickelodeon series The Winx Club, which ran for eight seasons, the Netflix adaptation was a live-action reimaging of the series as a teen drama.
A Million Little Things
The ABC drama A Million Little Things will conclude after five seasons on the air.
The show follows a tight-knit group of friends in Boston who learn how to live with grief following the suicide of one of the group members. The series title comes from the quote, "Friendship Isn't a Big Thing; it's a Million Little Things."
The Owl House
The animated series The Owl House will return for its third and final season on Disney+.
The series follows Luz Noceda, a teenage girl who becomes a witch's apprentice after discovering a portal to the Demon Realm. She helps the witch while looking for a way to return to the human realm.
Pit Bulls & Parolees
It's time to say goodbye to the team behind the Villalobos Rescue Centre. Animal Planet's Pit Bulls and Parolees will end after an impressive 19 seasons.
The series saw rescue center owner Tia Maria Torres and her team moving between California and Louisiana. She employed recent parolees seeking employment, helping to rescue and adopt pit bulls and other "bully" breeds of dogs.

It looks like the end is in sight for post-apocalyptic drama See. Low ratings are a possible reason for canceling the Apple TV+ series.
Starring Jason Mamoa as Baba Voss, a tribal leader who lives in a distant future where humans have lost their sense of sight, he becomes the adoptive father of children who are miraculously born with the ability to see and must protect them from hunters.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
American period comedy-drama series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is ending after five seasons on Amazon Prime Video.
Set in 1958 in New York City, it stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam Maisel, a Jewish-American housewife who discovers her talent for comedy following her separation from her husband. She begins working as a make-up counter girl during the day and performing stand-up at night.
Grendel
In September 2021, Netflix announced its plans to adapt Matt Wagner's comic series Grendel into a series, with Andrew Dabb as showrunner. The series is about talented writer Hunter Rose who goes by the name Grendel when working as an assassin.
In 2022, Netflix canceled the series, with producers now looking for another network to host the series.
The Late Show with James Corden
Popular late show host James Corden is saying goodbye to being the host of The Late Late Show after eight and a half years.
Remarking on his departure, Corden says, "I always thought I'd do it for five years and then leave, and then I stayed on. I've really been thinking about it for a long time, thinking whether there might be one more adventure."
