The Oldest Hollywood Stars Who Are Still Around
From the western hero Clint Eastwood to The Graduate‘s Katharine Ross, many iconic stars are still around, even if we don’t hear about them all of the time. Since their time in the spotlight, many stars have worked on various other projects while others opted for a relaxing retirement from Hollywood.
So, without further ado, put your hands together for some of the oldest stars.
Mel Brooks: 96-Years-Old
One of the most successful directors of the 1970s, Mel Brooks’s resume is pretty impressive, with films such as Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, Robinhood: Men in Tights, and The Producers under his dutiful direction.
Amazingly, Brooks began his career as a writer for the comedy variety series Your Show of Shows.
Tippi Hedren: 93-Years-Old
Tippi Hedren’s life changed when she was discovered by famed director Alfred Hitchcock. Soon after the meeting, Hedren starred in his film The Birds.
Her performance was the start of a grand career, one that allowed her to appear on the silver screen until her performance in the 2017 film The Ghost and the Whale.
Clint Eastwood: 92-Years-Old
Actor Clint Eastwood is known for his starring roles in spaghetti westerns throughout the 1960s, thanks to his television performance in Rawhide. He soon became a household name, playing anti-hero characters with dashing good looks.
As an actor and director, Eastwood has earned many accolades, including four Academy Awards — two for Best Picture and two for Best Director.
Morgan Freeman: 85-Years-Old
While actor Morgan Freeman didn’t get into acting until later in life, he definitely made a splash in Hollywood when he finally broke into the business in the late 1980s, with his breakout role being the 1987 film Street Smart.
As of 2022, Freeman has been nominated for numerous accolades, receiving an Academy Award for Best Supporting actor for his role in Million Dollar Baby.
Burton Gilliam: 84-Years-Old
Before making his way to Hollywood, Burton Gilliam was a member of the boxing world as both an athlete and a referee. Thankfully, he broke into the industry and made the iconic film Blazing Saddles, starring as Lyle.
During his career, Gilliam also made appearances in well-known television shows, including Charlie’s Angels, The A-Team, and The Dukes of Hazzard.
Richard Dreyfuss: 75-Years-Old
Close Encounters of the Third Kind, American Graffiti, and Jaws are only a few of the iconic films Richard Dreyfuss was lucky enough to be a part of.
A familiar face on the silver screen through the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Dreyfuss has a few well-deserved accolades under his belt, including an Academy Award for Best Actor.
Terry Kilburn: 96-Years-Old
Born in London, actor Terry Kilburn made his way to the United States and Hollywood when he was ten years old. From there, he landed the iconic role of Tiny Time in the film adaptation of Charles Dickens’s story A Christmas Carol.
After his last on-screen performance in 1969, Kilburn turned to Oakland University’s Meadow Brook Theatre, where he was the artistic director from 1970 until 1994.
Bob Newhart: 93-Years-Old
Known for his deadpan comedic style, Bob Newhart came into the spotlight in the 1976s with his comedy album The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart.
Surprisingly, Newhart didn’t appear on-screen until the 1970s when he starred as Chicago psychologist Robert Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show. The younger generation, though, probably recognizes him as Papa Elf from Elf.
Terry Moore: 94-Years-Old
Many people might recognize Terry Moore as one of the stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age. An Academy Award-nominated actress for her role as Marie Buckholder in the 1952 film Come Back, Little Sheba, Moore’s credits are a mile long.
As of 2022, Moore’s last credit is from the 2019 film Silent Life.
Gene Hackman: 92-Years-Old
Since the 1960s, Gene Hackman has been a prominent figure in Hollywood, starring in iconic films such as The French Connection, Hoosiers, Bonnie and Clyde, and Mississippi Burning.
As of 2022, Hackman has been nominated for four Academy Awards, winning two — one for Best Actor in The French Connection and the other for Best Supporting Actor for Unforgiven.
David Attenborough: 96-Years-Old
While many people might not know his face, they most likely recognize David Attenborough’s voice from his work on Life, a collection of documentaries focusing on life on Earth.
A huge supporter of environmental studies, Attenborough has voiced his opinions on mitigating climate change, restoring plant biodiversity, and pretty much everything having to do with nature preservation.
Jack Nicholson: 85-Years-Old
Jack Nicholson is said to be one of the greatest actors of his generation, starring in numerous iconic films that earned him prestigious awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Actor.
He is known for his performances in movies such as The Shining, A Few Good Men, and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Much to his fans’ dismay, Nicholson retired from acting after his performance in the 2010 film How Do You Know.
Robert Redford: 86-Years-Old
Starting off as a stage actor, Robert Redford made his way to television and then movies in the 1960s. Some of his most famous credits include Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President’s Men.
For his outstanding contributions to the film industry, Redford earned the Academy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002, his second Academy Award.
Ali MacGraw: 83-Years-Old
Actress Ali MacGraw gained attention in Hollywood after her performance as Brenda Patimkin in Goodbye, Columbus. From there, she became the top female box office star in the world in 1972.
While she doesn’t have many titles on her resume, MacGraw was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2021.
Eva Marie Saint: 98-Years-Old
One of the iconic stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood, Eva Marie Saint’s resume is beyond impressive, with titles such as North by Northwest, On The Waterfront, and Exodus under her belt.
With a career spanning over 70 years, Saint has won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Special.
Donald Sutherland: 87-Years-Old
Donald Sutherland began his television and film career back in the 1960s and doesn’t seem to be retiring from Hollywood anytime soon. Sutherland is arguably best known for his roles in Kelly’s Heroes, Klute, and his role as President Snow in The Hunger Games franchise.
He is also known as one of the best actors to new be nominated for an Academy Award (as of 2022).
Linda Evans: 80-Years-Old
People might remember actress Linda Evans from the 60s and 80s, starring as Audra Barkley in The Big Valley and then Krystle Carrington in Dynasty, both television series westerns.
Her most recent appearance on the silver screen was in the 2012 film Swan Song where she played the role of Rita Parker Sloan.
Maggie Smith: 88-Years-Old

Bob Barker: 99-Years-Old
While he has since retired from hosting, Bob Barker is arguably best known for his tenure with the longest-running daytime game show in North America, The Price is Right.
He worked as the host of the show from 1972 to 2007. After his time on The Price is Right, Barker went on to write a memoir, Priceless Memories.
Barbara Eden: 91-Years-Old
Actress Barbara Eden’s career is very impressive, with her most recognizable performance being the genie Jeannie in 139 episodes of the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie.
Due to the popularity of the television series, Eden even wrote a memoir titled Jeannie Out of the Bottle, which debuted at number 14 on The New York Times Best Seller List.
Dick Van Dyke: 97-Years-Old
Starring in the original production of Bye Bye Birdie and winning a Tony Award for Best Actor, Dick Van Dyke quickly made a name for himself on the stage and, soon after, on the silver screen.

Nicholas Hammond: 72-Years-Old

With acting in her soul, Lockhart portrayed June, aka the Voice of Alpha Control, in the Netflix reprisal of Lost in Space.
Leslie Caron: 91-Years-Old
Starting her career as a ballerina, Leslie Caron made her way to Hollywood, becoming one of the stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood. People might remember her performances in films such as The Glass Slipper, Gigi, and Daddy Long Legs.
Throughout her career, Caron has been the recipient of a Golden Globe and two Academy Award nominations.
Warren Beatty: 85-Years-Old
