On June 13th, 1986 Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were born in Sherman Oaks, California. By only two minutes, Ashley is older. Like most twins though, we're sure she always makes sure to remind her younger sister who's the boss.

The twins were always smiley and giggly, which made their parents wonder from the start if they had a future in show business.

For fraternal twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley look incredibly similar. That's what gave their father Dave the idea to have the twins work in Hollywood.

They were only chosen because of new labor laws that restricted young children to working a maximum of 20 minutes before having a break. With two kids, the producers could get double the acting.
